I've been staying at a hostel in Te Puke, the kiwi capital of the world for about a month. There are many immigrant workers from the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu working in the orchards and packinghouses. One morning, while working on some animation frames these two guys approached me. They said," Everyone from the islands has been talking about you. We have never seen someone like you around here before. You are an artist!!" There was a sense of awe in their voice and the words they used made me blush. I started sharing my ideas and work with them. Time passed, they managed to peel me away from my work for some painting. The first is Tafui (45 min) and the second is Gilbert(1:30 min).
