Some of my favorite inktobers so far. It's been a great challenge! I've teamed up with a poet for this project. I draw, she writes. Both reacting to each other everyday for the month of October. Follow me on instagram to see the latest updates. https://www.instagram.com/barretthomson/

Giant Astronaut. I was fortunate enough to try out some amazing Virtual Reality experiences here. This painting was meant to capture a sense of scale and mood one might like to experience as an Alice In Wonderland VR scene. I really can't wait to do some actual concept design in a virtual environment.
I've always loved exploring new and interesting environments. I find it fascinating how life exists in the most extreme circumstances or how we have used technology to make the most extreme environments.
The first concept is of a scout team exploring the fungi growing around arsenic pools.
The second concept is a giant kiln used to temper carbon hulls for space ship hulls and armor used to explore these toxic environments.
A concept based on a match 3 game already in play. The game mechanics are a bit clunky and boils down to 'match the dominant color.' For example, you can match the outer gold square with two gold ingots or vice versa. Most games out there using this mechanic don't take any consideration of why they are making people match random symbols. Ya just do! So I've come up with this concept in hopes to remedy that.
Using an alchemy machine, players are tasked with breaking down elements into their raw form in order to make objects that will aid them on their path to becoming an alchemist.
